This summer I had the super-fun task of documenting a brief cultural exchange program of Russian journalists on their visit to Burlington.
The gig came through PH International, a Waitsfield cultural exchange program I knew through Emily, who used to work there.
The job was to cover the Vermont portion of a one-month visit to the states by a group of 20 journalists and media students. This focused on electronic news gathering skills, as well as storytelling and visits to local media.
Talk about being on the ground floor!
In addition to watching participants learn about filmmaking, I got to visit with a few old colleagues from my days at the Burlington Free Press, and served — I believe — as an example of a working person doing this kind of storytelling.
I’ll be begging for more projects like this in the future!
