Dave’s blog: Message to the self-employed out there

We’re about one week into the COVID-19 isolation period, full swing, and it has impacted enough people’s lives that I can say it’s an event we will never forget.

I’m at home with my family. We have a lot to be thankful for. My son is still receiving schooling, via email, virtual sharing and self direction. Emily is still employed with a reliable salary, and we get a chance to relax (physically, anyway) that doesn’t often come along.

Capture: Video Storytelling is flailing, however. Most projects have disappeared, including the summer trip to Tanzania. Clients are sluggish to respond, and it’s hard not to think about all the businesses out there who have put a halt to any and all unnecessary expenditures due to concerns about future revenue.

This virus is going to be very hard on the economy, and I feel like I’m one of the first blades of grass to be mown.

We shall see. I’ve put out this message of optimism. I hope other freelancers can relate!
